Gorillaz, Andre 3000, James Murphy collab “Do Ya Thing”

Converse’s 3 Artists 1 Song just gave us this great present. They brought together Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem to collaborate on one track. It’s a little less than the sum of its parts, but when its parts are three of the best in their field, how can it not be? It is, however, incredibly awesome. Wouldn’t it be great if this wasn’t the last song these three did together?

Houndmouth: “Krampus”

Houndmouth’s new EP is listed online as having an August 28 release date, but I’m pretty sure it’s in stores now. All the more reason to shop locally, right? Speaking of local, these wonderful dudes and dudette and from the nearby (to me) city of Louisville! I caught them at Forecastle festival and was really impressed. Here’s one of their big live songs, the singalong called “Krampus.”

Cosmic Charlie

Boomslang is an excellent opportunity to catch some critically acclaimed acts that wouldn’t normally make a stop in central Kentucky. When you gather together enough bands like that, it’ll draw in enough fans to adequately support an appearance from Clinic, Blonde Redhead or whatever band is on the lineup that year. A great side effect of that is that we often wind up getting to see these groups in venues much smaller than they’d normally perform. For example, Clinic’s strong showing in the small-to-midsize venue Cosmic Charlie’s.
