Elephant 6 documentary trailer

Over the years the Elephant 6 Collective have had many documentaries allegedly in the works. Now with the release of this trailer, it’s clear we’re finally going to get a good one. Above you’ll find interviews with Robert Schneider (Apples in Stereo), Bill Doss (Olivia Tremor Control, Sunshine Fix, AiS), Will Cullen Hart (OTC, Circulatory System) and several more.

For anyone who just can’t wait to hear more on this project, I’d suggest you Like their Facebook page and then go pick up the 33 1/3 book on In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

Crocodiles: “Sunday (Psychic Conversation #9)

Stereogum just shared this new track from Crocodiles’ upcoming album, Endless Flowers (out June 4). Color me excited.

Strangely almost everything I loved about Crocodiles’ last album has been changed here. I loved their plodding, reverb-filled tracks like “Stoned to Death.” This one speeds things up and attacks on all fronts. It also has a lot more pop, what with the downright sunny keyboards and reliance on the vocals. It sounds like the meeting of the Flaming Lips’ early work and Tripping Daisy.

Tiger Waves: “It Could Never Stop”

Now here’s a great track to start the week with. Tiger Waves are a pop group from Austin that have been releasing a lot of stuff on their bandcamp over the past month. Snag some goodies over there after you’re done with this one.

What fun these guys must be live. This is a fantastic pop song that’s both a little bit 60s-minded, but contemporary in its execution. It’s asks “what would your favorite classic pop groups sound like if they grew up listening to their own music?”
